Official newsletter of the RACV Singer National Rally Shepparton 2011

Dear Singer Enthusiast,

This newsletter is the first of a series of newsletters intending to keep you informed as to what is happening and all you need to know about the Singer Car Club National Rally Shepparton 2011. The rally is over Easter 2011 from Friday 22nd to Monday 25th April.

RACV naming sponsor of Shepparton Rally 2011.

Yes, we have done it. The RACV has agreed to once again to be our naming rights sponsor for your rally.
So your rally will be known as the RACV Singer National Rally – Shepparton 2011.

We are still in discussion with other potential sponsors who will add further to your rally.

What does this mean to YOU?

This means that your Victorian Rally Committee can deliver a rally that is well funded and you get more value and return for your registration dollars.

Our Obligation

We need to support the companies who support us, so when you are thinking of any type of insurance contact the RACV or your local motoring organisation.

What a venue!

The Rally venue, Country Comfort Shepparton (The Parklake) is located in the Victoria Lake area of Shepparton. A short walk from the town centre, opposite the newly refurbished “Victoria Lake” and Goulburn River parklands.

The facilities are excellent, allowing us to accommodate all of you who want to stay at Rally HQ. There is a variety of accommodation with Deluxe, Superior and Family rooms. We have reserved 70 rooms with the opportunity to have more rooms if necessary. The Country Comfort, offers all the facilities you would expect in a venue of this calibre, with newly renovated rooms, 2 swimming pools (one indoors), conference facilities, a relaxing bar and outdoor areas. It is the ideal place to relax after a wonderful day in your Singer, swapping stories with your Singer friends (old and new). Importantly, off street parking (patrolled by security guards) for all Singers and the space for parking the moderns at the back of the motel.

For those who prefer to stay in a caravan park the Victoria Lake Holiday Park is a short stroll away so you can easily join in with those at Rally HQ for all your meals and socialising.

Later in this Mooovletter we will let you know how to secure your accommodation and register for the rally.

Rally Program.

We have a fantastic program lined up for you.

Starting Friday evening you will settle into your accommodation and have a relaxing evening enjoying a meal with all your Singer friends and prepare for the big day on Saturday.

Saturday we will travel along the Goulburn River to Tatura where you can taste the award winning Vanilla slices. To know what you will be doing for the rest of the day you will have to attend the rally as it is a secret. But we can assure you it will give you the opportunity to enjoy and show off your Singer.

Saturday dinner just a short walk from Rally HQ is Bicaro’s Italian Restaurant where we will dine on traditional Italian food lovingly prepared by Master Chef Tony and his mother Maria. The food is as close to Italian home cooking as you can get at a restaurant. The restaurant has 2 levels of rustic dining complimented by an outdoor area where you can sit under the 30 year old grape vines near the open fire enjoying a drink. Tony plans to dust off some of his 7,000 LP’s from his days as a leading DJ and help us dance the night away. Sounds like a wonderful way to end the first day of your rally.

Sunday will start early for some of you washing the Singer in preparation for the judging on the surrounds of Victoria Lake. Just over the road from rally HQ.

The rest of the day has the flexibility to allow those with children to go to SPC Ardmona Kidstown which has won awards as one of the best children’s playgrounds in Australia. The bigger kids will be able to enjoy a run around Shepparton and surrounds and you may even find a steep, big hill to drive up. Or you can simply relax and enjoy the facilities of the Country Comfort in preparation for the rally dinner.

The RACV Singer Car Rally Awards Dinner will start off with canapés and drinks around the indoor pool, followed by a fine dinner and a few surprises.

Monday our last day together is one of special significance. As it is ANZAC Day you can rise early and attend the Dawn service. We are waiting final confirmation that a number of Singers will be used in the ANZAC Day march to transport some of the less mobile returned servicemen.

Then time to say our goodbyes to all our friends old and new and start dreaming of the next rally in 2013.

Rally Fee and Accommodation Costs.

Your rally committee has negotiated hard and with the generous sponsorship of the RACV been able to keep the rally fees in line with the last National Rally at Berri. So the Rally fees are-
Adult                            $200
Child 12-16                  $120
Child 6-11                    $50
Under 5                        Free
This fee includes all meals from Friday dinner to Monday lunch (including continental breakfast) and a rally pack. I am sure you will agree this represents excellent value.

We can offer a range of accommodation at the rally HQ at the prices below, being for 2 adults per night-

Deluxe Room $145

Superior Room $155

Family Room (2A +2C) - $155

Grand Suite $185

This means a couple can come to the rally for $835 for their accommodation and all meals. This represents excellent value.

To help reduce costs to you we have arranged with the Country Comfort Shepparton that all attendees will book direct. This can be done several ways.

Securing your place in the rally.

To formally secure your spot in the rally you need to register for the rally by filling in the form at the end of this Mooovletter and paying a deposit of $100 per adult to the Singer Car Club National Rally. You can pay the full fees if you wish.

Please pay your deposit in either of the following two ways-

Electronic bank deposit: Fill in the registration form and email it to the rally email address singerrally2011@gmail.com . Then deposit into the rally account the amount you have entered in on the form (being $100 deposit per adult). It is important that you put as your deposit reference number your surname and your postcode. This way we can credit your deposit to you. If you email us the registration form when do your deposit we can easily confirm and correctly allocate your deposit.

Booking Your Accommodation.

You can book via email, phone call of fax. The most important thing is to direct all contact to our appointed liaison person at the Country Comfort – Emma Rankin and mention you are booking for the Singer Car Club National Rally.

To make booking as simple as possible and allow your rally committee to have a register of those attending we ask you to do the following :-

Ensure you indicate on your registration form where you intend to stay.

If staying at the rally headquarters (Country Comfort Shepparton) contact our sole contact person Emma by your preferred method. It is critical that you only deal with Emma as she will ensure the correct rate and allocate you one of the rooms we have reserved.

The same as your registration you can book your accommodation in 2 ways -

Electronic- send your reservation by Email to

Mark it Attention Emma, she will then contact you to arrange the payment of your deposit by credit card.

Phone – Call the Country Comfort and ask for Emma and make your booking over the phone 03 5821 5822. Please note she works a rotating roster so if she is not working the day you call leave your name and phone number. Mention that you are from the Singer Car Club National Rally and ask for her to ring you back. She will return your call and arrange with you of the best way to pay your deposit.

We cannot stress highly enough as to how important it is to book your accommodation and send in your registration immediately.

It has just been announced that the Easter Nats (it is like the Canberra Summernats) will be held in Benalla which is 40 minutes away. It is expected that this will attract up to 25,000 attendees. This means that it is highly likely that all accommodation in the area will be totally booked out. So get in early so we can confirm all the rooms we need to accommodate all of you. We already have enough expressions of interest to fill all the rooms we have reserved at rally HQ. We can get another 10 but need to fill the rooms already reserved and if necessary use other motels close by. But if you want to be at Rally HQ book now.

If you plan to stay in accommodation other than the rally HQ particularly the Caravan Park you will need to act NOW because if you wait a few months it is highly likely you will miss out.

So now is the time to act to secure you place at the RACV Singer Car Club National Rally 2011.

All you have to do is fill in the registration form below, pay your registration deposit, email or post it to your rally committee. Call the Country Comfort and book your accommodation. Then relax and start working on the Singer to get it ready for the rally. Til rally Mooovletter No2.
